At Jade Vienna Aesthetics, we know that dermal fillers are a fantastic way to enhance your facial features, restore lost volume, and reduce wrinkles. But to ensure you get the most out of your treatment and maintain those beautiful, natural-looking results, aftercare is essential.

Here’s everything you need to know about aftercare for dermal fillers to ensure that your results last as long as possible:

1. Avoid Touching or Massaging the Treated Area

After your dermal filler treatment, it’s important to avoid touching, pressing, or massaging the treated areas for at least 24 to 48 hours. This helps prevent any movement of the filler and allows it to settle naturally into your skin.

If you need to apply makeup or skincare products, be gentle and avoid putting pressure on the treated areas.

2. Stay Upright for the First Few Hours

Immediately after the procedure, it’s a good idea to stay upright for at least 4 hours. Lying down or sleeping on your face can cause the filler to shift, leading to uneven results.

After the initial period, feel free to relax, but avoid sleeping with your face pressed against a pillow for a few days.

3. Limit Sun Exposure

Dermal fillers are sensitive to heat, so it’s important to avoid direct sun exposure for at least 72 hours following your treatment. UV rays can cause inflammation and may affect the final appearance of the filler. If you do need to be outside, make sure to wear SPF 30 or higher to protect your skin from sun damage.

4. Avoid Intense Exercise and Heat for 48 Hours

Excessive sweating and intense physical activity can cause swelling and bruising after dermal filler injections. To ensure the best results, avoid activities like hot yoga, saunas, and strenuous workouts for at least 48 hours. If you want to do lighter exercise, keep it low-impact until your swelling and bruising have reduced.

5. Don’t Drink Alcohol for 24 Hours

While it might be tempting to celebrate your new look with a glass of wine, it’s best to avoid alcohol for at least 24 hours post-treatment. Alcohol can increase the risk of bruising and swelling, so give your skin time to heal without any added irritation.

6. Use Arnica Gel to Reduce Swelling and Bruising

It’s normal to experience some swelling or bruising after dermal filler injections, especially around delicate areas like the lips or under the eyes. Arnica gel is a great natural remedy that can help reduce these side effects. Gently apply the gel to the treated areas, following your practitioner’s advice, to aid healing.

7. Stay Hydrated

Fillers like hyaluronic acid attract water, so staying hydrated is crucial for helping your skin maintain its plump, youthful appearance. Drinking plenty of water will also support the natural healing process, helping you achieve the best results possible.

8. Be Patient—Final Results May Take Time

After your treatment, it can take a few days to a week for the dermal filler to fully settle and show its final results. Don’t be alarmed if you notice some initial swelling or slight asymmetry—this is normal, and the filler will adjust with time.

9. Follow-Up Appointment

We recommend booking a follow-up appointment with us about two weeks after your treatment. This gives us the opportunity to assess your results and ensure everything is perfect. If any adjustments are needed, they can be made at this time to ensure you get the most out of your treatment.
